Exit 45 (Maine Mall Road) southbound ramps to be closed this weekend

Southbound on and off ramps closed from 9:00 PM on Friday (4/30) through 6:00 AM Monday (5/3)

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine - Starting Friday, April 30 at 9:00 PM the southbound on and off ramps of Maine Turnpike's Exit 45 (Maine Mall Road) Interchange will be closed to traffic. The ramps are anticipated to reopen by 6:00 AM on Monday, May 3. The closures are necessary in order to shift traffic over to new, temporary ramps that are part of the Exit 45 reconstruction project.

Once the southbound ramps reopen on Monday, motorists should expect a change in the traffic pattern with the temporary ramps in place.  The new southbound ramps will remain through 2022.

Motorists are asked to plan accordingly during the closure.  MTA suggests motorists use alternate nearby Interchanges (Exit 46 to the north and Exit 42 to the south) over the weekend.

The Exit 45 Interchange is being reconstructed with additional capacity for future traffic volumes and will relocate toll payment to two new ramp plazas.  It also includes a new, higher and wider bridge.  The new bridge will be raised to provide a 16.5-foot clearance over the Maine Turnpike. The work is being done by to CPM Constructors of Freeport.
