Lane Closure on Maine Turnpike for Culvert Replacement in New Gloucester
New Gloucester, Maine – Beginning, Monday, September 16, there will be a long-term northbound lane closure on the Maine Turnpike at Mile 71, near the New Gloucester/Auburn town line. This closure is necessary for the replacement of a concrete culvert that was damaged during one of the extreme rainstorms the area experienced this past spring.
Travelers should be aware that traffic in the area tends to be heavy during evening commutes, and delays are possible. The lane closure is expected to last about a month.
Chase Excavating of Falmouth is the contractor handling the project. In addition to replacing the inlet and outlet ends of the culvert, the contractor will also be conducting slope stabilization and erosion control work.
The culvert replacement and slope repairs are anticipated to be completed by the end of October 2024.
