Maine Turnpike Authority Will Participate in IBTTA’s “Be Safe Together” Road Safety Campaign
Portland– Maine Turnpike Authority, a member of the International Bridge, Tunnel and Turnpike Association (IBTTA), is proud to announce its participation in “Be Safe Together,” a new global road safety campaign to educate drivers about the actions they can take to make our roads safer for all users.
The campaign will take place June 24-28 and includes global messaging, digital promotion, and public engagement. Maine Turnpike Authority will participate in the campaign, showcasing the tolling industry’s commitment to safety through our work to build and maintain safe roads and emphasizing to drivers that the little choices they make at each step of their journey can make a real difference in others’ lives.
Peter Merfeld, Chief Operations Officer for MTA said, “We are proud to participate in IBTTA's Road Safety Week campaign, reinforcing our commitment to prioritizing safety for all who travel and work on the Maine Turnpike. Safety is everyone’s job--whether people are visiting Maine, truck drivers, maintenance crews, or toll workers. This campaign emphasizes the importance of taking an inclusive approach to ensuring the safety and well-being of everyone on the road, including our employees.”
Maine Turnpike Authority will participate in the campaign by pledging to be safe on the road. On Monday June 24th, MTA will host a pledge board at our EZ-Pass Customer Service Center at 2360 Congress Street in Portland, for the public and its employees to publicly pledge how they will be safe on the Pike. These pledges will be shared on MTA’s social media pages to showcase our dedication to safe driving but to also share this message with our followers.
Global Road Safety Week will be held June 24-28, across the Maine Turnpike and toll roads everywhere.
