Multiple nighttime stoppages on Turnpike mainline begin tomorrow as work on Cummings Road Bridge in Scarborough continues

Stoppages of up to 25 minutes and overnight closures of Exit 45 Interchange ramps
to occur this week and next

PORTLAND, Maine – Beginning tomorrow evening, mainline stoppages and closure of the Exit on-ramps will occur as construction crews place structural steel on Cummings Road Bridge.  Starting at 8:00 PM on Thursday, April 30, 2020, the southbound on-ramp of the Exit 45 Interchange on the Maine Turnpike will close, followed by mainline stoppages in both directions in the vicinity of Mile 44 beginning at 10:00 PM.  Both the stoppages and ramp closure will occur through 5:00 AM Friday morning.

Next week, similar ramp closures and mainline stoppages are scheduled as follows:

Monday, May 4, 2020 – Starting at 8:00 PM Exit 45 southbound on-ramp closed overnight. Mainline stoppages scheduled overnight through Friday morning at 5:00 AM

Wednesday, May 6, 2020 and Thursday, May 7, 2020 – Starting at 8:00 PM Exit 45 northbound off-ramp closed overnight. Mainline stoppages scheduled overnight through Friday morning at 5:00 AM.

All work is weather dependent. Motorists should prepare for delays or seek alternate travel routes during the stoppage times. Message boards will be in place to inform approaching travelers of the stoppages, and Highway Advisory Radio (HAR) broadcasts on 1610 AM will also be used to inform drivers. The Maine Turnpike Authority appreciates motorists’ patience and understanding during this construction.
