Nighttime traffic stoppages on Turnpike in Auburn starting Monday

Stoppages up to 25 minutes at a time for bridge construction

Auburn, Maine – Starting Monday night, July 22 at 10 PM, there will be nighttime traffic stoppages on the mainline at mile marker 74. These trooper-assisted stoppages will last up to 25 minutes at a time and will occur from 10 PM to 5 AM. The stoppages will affect both northbound and southbound traffic. The work is anticipated to last through Thursday, July 25.

The reason for these traffic interruptions is to allow the contractor, CPM Constructors of Freeport, to set structural steel for the new Route 122 (Poland Spring Road) bridge. The work is part of the $4.6 Million contract to replace the bridge, which began in the spring. The new bridge is scheduled to be completed by December 2024.
