Exit 46 Northbound On Ramp to be Closed June 12-15
Motorists should use Exit 45 (Maine Mall Road) during closure
PORTLAND, Maine - Starting at 10:00 PM on Sunday, June 12, the turnpike northbound on ramp at Exit 46 (Jetport) in Portland will be closed. The closure will last until 10:00 PM on Wednesday June 15.The ramp closure is necessary in order to reconstruct the ramp, including culverts and drainage infrastructure. The ramp will be paved and striped and the shoulders adjacent to the southbound on ramp will be narrowed in preparation for the next phase of construction. Drivers are asked to use Exit 45 in South Portland (Maine Mall Road) during the closure.
Variable Message Boards are in place alerting drivers to the upcoming closure. All of the work is weather dependent. Drivers are urged to check the variable message boards and the MTA’s social media for updates.
More ramp closures are planned during this construction season. This work is part of the Portland Area Widening project, adding a third travel lane in both directions from mile 46 to 49. The project was awarded to Shaw Brothers of Gorham, Maine and it is anticipated to be complete in the fall of 2023.
