Maine Turnpike Authority is looking for a full-time student in their 2nd to 3rd year of college, currently enrolled and planning to complete a Bachelors or Associates Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Surveying Engineering, Building and Engineering Technology or similar/related field. The Turnpike is 110 miles of interstate highway in southern Maine. This position will work out of our Portland, Maine office.
This is semi-skilled technical work with primary responsibility of assisting on engineering and construction projects, and is a seasonal entry-level, on-the-job training position. Frequent travel along the turnpike corridor is required. Duties include, but are not limited to:
• Serving in a survey party.
• Entering and updating GIS data.
• Attending construction project meetings.
• Assisting with inspection of grading work for proper materials, moisture content, width, grade and drainage.
Job Description
Employees are supervised at regular intervals for quality of work performed. A technical supervisor gives instructions orally or through sketches, maps or simple plans.
Must possess and maintain a valid Class C State of Maine driver’s license and clean driving record. Pay rate is $25.00 per hour.
