Pre-Labor Day Traffic Information and Photo Op with Miles the Maine Turnpike Moose

PORTLAND, Maine -  For nearly two decades Miles, the Maine Turnpike Moose, waved goodbye to visitors at the York Toll booth as they headed southbound out of the state. Now that the new ORT toll booth is operational moving traffic faster through this area, Miles has decided to instead greet incoming visitors at the Kennebunk northbound plaza on Friday, September 2 from Noon until 2:30 PM.

Miles will be available for photos and Turnpike staff will be available for interviews.

More than 1 million vehicles are anticipated to travel the Maine Turnpike from Friday through Monday of this Labor Day weekend.  Friday is anticipated to be the busiest of all four days system wide. Peak traffic volumes and times are as follows:

All construction and maintenance activities on the turnpike will be suspended over the long weekend yet, there are still many construction areas on the pike that include narrowed lanes and reduced speed zones. Please obey the posted work zone speed limit.
